| Market woes weigh on Hargreaves Lansdown
Hargreaves Lansdown, the stockbroker that floated last May at 160p, dropped below its launch price yesterday amid fears that it would issue a warning on growth with its first-half results due today. The shares fell 9¾p to 158p as Investec reiterated its "sell" advice, saying that it expected the weak stock market to hit its flow of funds from investors. It said that its forecast target for the year to end-June of £12.8 billion under management looked challenging given that the market is off 10 per cent this year. Resolution was the worst blue-chip performer, down 44p at 672p, hit by worries that the 720p-a-share takeover by Hugh Osmond’s Pearl Assurance could be scuppered at the eleventh hour by the Financial Services Authority. The watchdog was unhappy with the speed at which Pearl wanted to sell capital in Resolution’s life funds to repay its creditors.

A cubicle contraption keeps workers on the run
Then you probably will think a new desk designed at the Mayo Clinic is overkill. The research hospital recently built what they called a "vertical workstation" — a desk fitted over a standard treadmill. They persuaded 15 obese people to work at this treadmill-desk and measured how many calories they burned. .
GM Exec Stands by Calling Global Warming a “Total Crock of Shit”
It is way past time for these corporate criminals to be brought down. At the beginning of WW2, the auto indsutry turned on a dime, and produced tanks and planes instead of autos witin a year. Now you tell me, even with all the computerization that they did not have in WW2, that the 'poor American auto industry' can't change so fast to better greener vehicles, and has to have way much time to ease into doing somthing different… or think of new ways to postpone any progress. It all has to do with profits funnelling upwards to this same bunch of greedy corporate criminals. Because of corporate types such as this jackass, and Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Skilling, et al, we cannot trust any corporate officers, and must take back the nation from them. Before they do even more damage.
The Morning After: Race or Gender? Neither.
If either Clinton or Obama gets the nomination, I will vote for NEITHER. I'm sick of the clones!!! WE need to take our country back from shameful Nazi demon Rupert Murdoch because without a truly free press we are doomed. Welcome Everyone to the Disunited States of Fascism. If you didn't wake up before, you'll wake when you end up in one of Haliburton's Detention Centers. They are just waiting for you. .

Curbing the Chaos in the Garage
At some point, our two-car garage morphed into an all-purpose repository for household junk. Amid the tennis gear, soccer balls and old newspapers, it had room for only one car. We clearly needed help. So we called in professional garage organizers to clear the clutter. Garage organizing is big business. Including home workshops -- comprising everything from auto-repair equipment to upright tool chests -- garage gear has become a billion-dollar industry, says Greg Alford, senior partner with Peachtree Consulting Group, an Atlanta-based marketing consulting firm. High-end custom garage-organizing companies have been growing 20%-25% per year, Mr. Alford says. He does, however, expect the growth to flatten a little in 2008, because of the weakening economy. The typical American garage is growing.
Sharif plans to contest Pakistan by-elections
Several hurdles stand in his way. But if he can overcome them, Sharif may plant himself in the running for the prime minister's slot in the new government. Pakistan will hold by-elections in the coming weeks for seats left vacant either because a candidate died or because a politician won in more than one constituency. Both Sharif and his brother, Shahbaz, will run, said Ahsan Iqbal, spokesman for the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N). The party captured the second most number of votes in the Feb. 18 parliamentary elections. PML-N is currently in talks with slain opposition leader Benazir Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party (PPP) to form a coalition government. PPP, which won the majority of parliamentary seats, has yet to name a candidate for the prime minister post.
